Custom Team Kits Explained: A Club Manager's Complete Guide

Ordering custom team kits can feel overwhelming with so many options available. This guide walks club managers through every decision — from kit style to decoration method — so you can get the right kit at the right price.

Whether you're running a grassroots football team, a netball club or a county-level rugby squad, getting your team kit right matters. Here's everything you need to know before placing your order.

Stock Kits vs Fully Custom (Sublimated) Kits

This is the first decision to make, and it's largely a budget question.

Stock kits with added branding

You choose a kit from our range of performance sportswear (football shirts, rugby jerseys, etc.) and we add your club crest, sponsor logos and player names/numbers.

  • ✓ Lower cost per unit
  • ✓ Faster turnaround
  • ✓ Good colour options (but limited to available stock colours)
  • ✗ You're working within the brand's existing design

Fully custom sublimated kits

Your kit is designed from scratch — every panel, colour, pattern and detail is exactly as you specify. The ink is sublimated (infused) directly into the polyester fabric.

  • ✓ Truly unique — your exact club colours and design
  • ✓ Unlimited colours at no extra cost
  • ✓ Professional club look at grassroots prices
  • ✗ Higher minimum quantities (typically 10+ per design)
  • ✗ Longer turnaround (10–14 working days after design approval)

Decoration Methods for Kits

  • Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV) — Player names and squad numbers. Precise, durable and available in many colours. Ideal for individual personalisation.
  • Embroidery — Club crest on polo shirts, training jackets and match-day wear. Premium finish.
  • Screen Printing — Sponsor logos on large quantities of training bibs or t-shirts.
  • Sublimation — All-over full-colour design on match kits.

What to Include in Your Kit Order

A typical club order might include:

  • Match kit (home + away colourway)
  • Training shirts/bibs
  • Training hoodie or tracksuit top
  • Shorts and socks (if required)
  • Polo shirt for officials/coaching staff
  • Club bag or holdall

Sizing for Junior and Senior Teams

We can supply junior and senior sizes in the same order. Just provide us with a size list and we'll sort the rest. Typical junior sizes run from Age 5/6 up to Age 14/15, with senior sizes XS to 4XL.

Naming and Numbering

Provide us with a list of player names and squad numbers and we'll personalise each item before dispatch. We can also do positions (GK, CB, ST etc.) if preferred.

Planning Your Order Timeline

  • Stock kit with embroidery: 7–10 working days after artwork approval
  • Stock kit with names/numbers: 5–7 working days after names list received
  • Sublimated custom kit: 10–14 working days after design approval

Tip: Order before the season starts — don't leave it until the week before your first fixture.
