Fundraising merchandise is branded stock your charity, school or community group sells — or gives to supporters — so that every sale, every event and every donor contact also raises money and spreads your name. CentralCustom prints and embroiders it for UK causes of every size.

Quick answer

Fundraising merchandise is branded product a cause sells to raise money, rather than buys as a cost. The most effective items for UK charities are printed t-shirts and hoodies, tote bags, water bottles, wristbands, pin badges and lanyards, because each carries a comfortable margin and keeps working long after the event. CentralCustom produces all of these with your logo: there is no minimum order, you get a free digital proof before anything is made, and orders are typically dispatched 7–14 working days after you approve that proof. Send us your numbers and we will quote within one working day.

Why UK causes order fundraising merchandise from CentralCustom

  • No minimum order. Test 25 tote bags before you commit to 500. Small groups are not priced out.
  • Margin-first advice. We will tell you honestly which items sell at a profit and which look good but barely wash their face.
  • Free digital proof. Nothing is printed until your trustees or committee have seen exactly how the logo sits.
  • Your artwork kept on file. Reorders before your next event are quicker and cheaper, with no repeat setup.
  • One supplier across the range. Garments, bags, bottles and badges from one place means one proof round and one delivery.
  • 40+ years behind us. CentralCustom is a division of Central Sports, and we have been decorating garments in the UK for four decades.

Who it is for

  • Registered charities building a merchandise line that funds core work year-round.
  • Schools and PTAs raising money at summer fairs, sports days and Christmas markets. Our charity fundraising t-shirts page covers the garment side in detail.
  • Community groups, scouts, guides and churches who need a small run without a big minimum.
  • Challenge-event fundraisers kitting out a team for a marathon, trek or fun run. See our guide to organising custom t-shirts for a fun run or summer fundraiser.
  • Corporate partners funding a charity-of-the-year push and wanting both logos on the item.

Frequently asked questions

Can we claim Gift Aid on fundraising merchandise?

Generally no. Gift Aid applies to donations, not to sales — if a supporter receives goods in exchange for their money, that is a purchase, and the standard Gift Aid rules do not apply to it. Some charities run a separate donation alongside a sale, or use HMRC's retail Gift Aid scheme for donated goods sold on a charity's behalf, which works differently again. This is a common and expensive misunderstanding, so please take your own advice: we are printers, not tax advisers.

Do we pay VAT on fundraising merchandise?

It depends on the item and on your organisation's VAT position. One rule worth knowing is that children's clothing is zero-rated for VAT in the UK, which can change the maths on a school or youth-group order considerably. Again, confirm your own position with your accountant before you price anything.

What is the best margin item to start with?

Tote bags and water bottles, in most cases. They cost less per unit than a hoodie, sell at a price supporters accept without hesitation, and get carried in public, which is free visibility. Garments carry a higher cash margin per sale but tie up more money in sizes.

How many should we order first time?

Start with a quantity you are confident of selling at one event, then reorder. Because we hold your artwork on file and have no minimum, a cautious first run costs you very little and tells you far more than a spreadsheet will.

Can you put a sponsor's logo alongside ours?

Yes. Dual-branding is common where a company funds the print run in exchange for placement. Send both logos and we will show you the layout on the proof.

How long does it take?

Typically 7–14 working days from proof approval to dispatch. If you are working to an event date, tell us the date and we will work backwards with you.
