CentralCustom prints and embroiders freshers' week clothing for university societies, sports clubs, halls of residence and students' union welcome teams right across the UK. Whether you need twenty committee hoodies or five hundred t-shirts for the freshers' fair, we put your society logo onto garments people will actually keep wearing after Welcome Week is over. Send us your design, or just a rough idea and a logo file, and we'll come back with a quote and a visual proof before anything goes to print.

Why choose CentralCustom for freshers' week kit

We work to student budgets. Freshers' merch usually has to come out of a society grant or be sold on at close to cost. We'll quote honestly on garment options at different price points so you can see what a change of blank actually does to your unit cost, rather than being pushed straight to the premium hoodie.

We sort the artwork. Committee logos tend to arrive as a screenshot, a Canva export or a JPEG someone made in first year. We'll tell you whether it will print cleanly, redraw it where it needs redrawing, and send a proof so you can see exactly what you're getting.

Print or embroidery, whichever suits the job. Big front-and-back designs and bright colours suit screen printing. Small, tidy left-chest logos on hoodies and polos look sharper embroidered. We'll recommend the right one for your artwork instead of applying the same method to everything.

We plan around Welcome Week, not around us. September is the busiest month in this trade. Tell us the date your freshers' fair falls on and we'll work the production schedule backwards from it and confirm your deadline in writing when we quote.

One order, one invoice, one delivery. Useful when your students' union finance team wants a single purchase order rather than forty individual payments, and useful when you'd rather collect everything in one box than chase parcels around campus.

Who orders freshers' week clothing from us

  • Societies and course groups - hoodies with the society name on the back and a left-chest logo, often with committee roles added for the exec.
  • University sports clubs - training tops, stash hoodies and t-shirts for BUCS squads and social teams, usually in club colours.
  • Halls of residence and JCRs - hall hoodies for new arrivals, and matching t-shirts for hall reps so freshers can spot them on move-in day.
  • Students' unions and welcome teams - bright, high-visibility t-shirts for Welcome Week helpers, plus tote bags and bottles for goody bags.
  • Course reps, peer mentors and student ambassadors - polos and softshells that look tidy enough for open days and campus tours.

What we can brand for Welcome Week

Pullover and zip hoodies, sweatshirts, t-shirts, long-sleeve tees, polos, gilets, softshell jackets, caps and beanies, plus the giveaway items that actually get used: custom tote bags, printed water bottles, lanyards and embroidered caps. Mixed orders are fine; you don't need to place a separate job for each item.

Freshers' week hoodies and t-shirts: FAQs

How far in advance should we order?

Earlier than most committees expect. September is peak season for every UK garment decorator, so if your freshers' fair is in late September, get artwork approved in August. Give yourself a fortnight of buffer beyond whatever lead time we confirm - that is your insurance against a re-proof or a size change.

Is there a minimum order?

Minimums are low and depend on the decoration method. Embroidery works well on small numbers because the setup is a one-off digitising charge. Screen printing gets cheaper the more you order, because the screens are set up per colour. Ask us for both and compare.

Can we put names or committee roles on the garments?

Yes. Names, nicknames, committee positions and squad numbers can all be added individually. Send them as a spreadsheet with the size next to each name and we'll match them up.

Should we print or embroider our society logo?

Print for large designs, multi-colour artwork and anything across the back. Embroidery for small left-chest logos, and for anything you want to look smart rather than casual. See our custom embroidery service and screen printing pages for the detail.

Can members pay individually?

Most committees collect payments themselves through their society account or an online form, then place one order with us. That's usually simpler than forty separate transactions, and it means one delivery to one address.

What if we only have a low-resolution logo?

Send it anyway. We'll tell you honestly whether it can be used as-is, and quote to redraw it properly if not. A redrawn logo is a one-off job you'll then reuse on every order for years.
