Quick answer: CentralCustom embroiders school logos and crests onto sweatshirts, cardigans, polo shirts, fleeces and PE kit for schools, academies, nurseries and PTAs across the UK. Send us your crest and we'll digitise it, send a free digital proof, and dispatch within 7–14 working days of approval. No minimum order, and your logo setup stays on file for every reorder.
School uniform is one part of our custom embroidery service, which covers every garment we stitch — from staff polos and embroidered hoodies to caps, fleeces and workwear.
An embroidered school logo is the difference between "a grey sweatshirt" and "our school's sweatshirt". It survives the school wash week after week, it doesn't crack or peel the way a cheap print can, and it gives a uniform the finished, consistent look that parents and governors expect. We've supplied embroidered schoolwear to schools for years as part of a group with over 40 years in customised clothing, so we know what holds up on a Year 3 jumper by the third term.
What our school uniform embroidery service covers
- Logo digitising — your crest is converted into a stitch file by hand, with small text and fine detail simplified where needed so it stays legible at chest-logo size. For repeat orders, artwork setup and digitising are included.
- Full uniform range — sweatshirts, cardigans, polo shirts, fleeces, PE t-shirts, hoodies and book bags, in school colours, from Age 3/4 up to adult 5XL for staff.
- Proof before production — every order gets a free digital proof showing your logo on the exact garment and position before a single stitch is sewn.
- Names and initials — optional pupil name personalisation, useful for lost-property-prone infants and for staff garments.
- Direct invoicing to the school where we're an approved supplier, so PTAs and school offices aren't left out of pocket.
Why schools choose CentralCustom for embroidered uniform
- No minimum order — top up a single size mid-year or place a full September order at the same per-unit process.
- Durable, tested garments — we stock child and junior sizes from Russell Europe, AWDis, B&C Collection, Larkwood and Babybugz, chosen because they take embroidery cleanly and cope with daily washing.
- Consistent colours on every reorder — thread colours and logo position are recorded on your file, so a jumper ordered in March matches one ordered in September.
- Straightforward turnaround — 7–14 working days from proof approval, with honest advice if you're working to a term-start deadline.
- Quote within one working day — email your crest and rough numbers to promo@centralcustom.co.uk.
Who we work with
Primary and secondary schools ordering their core uniform; nurseries and pre-schools wanting bright, tough embroidered sweatshirts; PTAs running a uniform shop or a leavers order; and school staff teams who want matching embroidered fleeces, polos or softshells. If your school already has an account with us, parents can be pointed to the right ordering route — just ask.
FAQs
Is embroidery or print better for school uniform?
Embroidery, for the core uniform. It outlasts print through hundreds of washes and doesn't fade or crack. Print is worth considering for PE t-shirts, sports day tops and leavers hoodies, where a larger, multi-colour design is wanted and the garment is worn less often.
What file do you need for our school logo?
Ideally a vector file (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG). If all you have is a JPEG from the school website or a scan of the letterhead, send that — we'll tell you honestly whether it can be redrawn for embroidery.
Can you match our exact school colours?
Yes. Send us the garment colour you currently use and the thread colours in your crest; once agreed on the proof, they're fixed on your file for every future order.
How small can an embroidered school logo go?
A standard chest logo is roughly 7–9 cm wide. Crests with very fine lettering or thin lines may need simplifying to stay readable at that size — we'll show you on the proof rather than guess.
Do you embroider garments parents supply?
Our service is built around supplying and embroidering the garments together, which is how we guarantee the result. Contact us with what you have in mind and we'll confirm what's possible.
How far ahead should a school order for September?
Aim to have your proof approved by early July. That leaves the 7–14 working day production window plus a buffer for size changes before term starts.
