Rain doesn't stop a groundworks crew, a delivery round or a festival steward team, but a leaking jacket or a logo that cracks after a month will make your whole uniform look second-rate. CentralCustom brands waterproof jackets, over-trousers and rain tops with your logo, using a decoration method chosen to protect the waterproofing rather than punch holes in it.

Quick answer: for branded waterproof workwear, choose garments rated to EN 343 (the standard for rain-protective clothing) and have the logo applied in a way that suits the fabric. Heat-applied transfers and print keep the membrane and seams intact, while embroidery works best on softshell, fleece-lined or non-critical areas. Send us your logo and headcount through the contact page and we will recommend the right garment and method for your team.

How a logo goes on waterproof fabric

Waterproof fabric is not like a cotton polo. Every needle hole is a tiny weak point, and coated or laminated fabrics can lift if the wrong heat or adhesive is used. The method matters more than the logo size.

  • Heat-applied vinyl or DTF transfer: sits on the surface, so the membrane is not pierced. Best for chest logos and large back prints on shell jackets. Washes well when applied correctly.
  • Embroidery: the most durable and premium-looking finish, but the needle does perforate the fabric. We suggest it for softshell, fleece-backed and showerproof layers, or on areas such as the sleeve or collar where a few stitches matter less. For fully seam-taped shells, ask us for a sample first.
  • Sewn-on patches: a good middle route for a small crest, though the stitching around the edge still goes through the garment.

What to look for in the garment

Three details separate a jacket that lasts a winter from one that soaks through by lunchtime.

  • EN 343 classes: the standard gives a water penetration class and a breathability class, each from 1 to 3, with 3 the highest. Class 3 for both is the benchmark for heavy, all-day outdoor work.
  • Waterproof rating in mm: as a rough guide, around 5,000mm copes with light rain and 10,000mm or more suits steady UK weather.
  • Seams and fit: taped seams, an adjustable hood and a cut that allows a fleece underneath. Cheap shells often fail at the seams first.

Waterproof workwear FAQs

Can you embroider a waterproof jacket?

Yes, but it depends on the jacket. Embroidery perforates the fabric, so on a fully taped shell we usually recommend a heat-applied transfer instead. On softshell and showerproof layers embroidery is fine.

Will branding make my jacket leak?

A surface transfer or print should not affect waterproofing. Embroidery can reduce it slightly around the stitched area, which is why placement and method are worth discussing before you order.

What does EN 343 mean?

EN 343 is the European standard for protective clothing against rain, wind and cold. It rates water penetration and breathability on a scale of 1 to 3, with 3 the best.

Can I get hi-vis waterproofs with my logo?

Yes. Hi-vis waterproofs are usually certified to both EN ISO 20471 for visibility and EN 343 for rain protection. Logo placement on hi-vis should not cover the reflective tape, so we plan it around the garment.

What do you need to give me a quote?

Your logo (a vector file such as SVG, AI or PDF is ideal), the garments you want, approximate quantities and sizes, and any colour requirements. Get in touch through the contact page.
